Seminar Schedule

FREE Seminars will be running throughout the day on Friday and Saturday at the Portland Mom and Baby Expo.

We are still finalizing the details of our Seminar Schedule.  Check back for updates – dates and times are subject to change!

Friday, May 5th Classroom Seminars:

12:30 – 1:15 PM – “Birth – What we bring to it and what we take away” with Ellen Kunkle, CCE of Maine Medical Center

Join us for a conversation about how birth impacts our lives, from the emotional and mental preparation (ie. attitudes, feelings, family & friends birth stories, personal histories, media portrayal, approaches to challenges) to the physical (ie. relaxation, neurological & hormonal function and effects).  We’ll talk about how to process both the positive and not-so-positive aspects of the experience (empowerment, deeper understanding of self, deeper bond with partner, forgiveness/acceptance, dissapointment, lack of empowerment or trust in self) and how to cope with it all by reaching out for support, setting up realistic expectations, and being gentle with yourself.

Presented by: Ellen Kunkle, CCE.  Ellen is a certified childbirth educator at Maine Medical Center and a postpartum doula with Full Circle Doula Services, providing education, guidance and support to new moms, babies and families.
